Way Through the Woods
Counselling and Psychotherapy

I'm an integrative counsellor working from a person-centred perspective. I incorporate attachment theory, exploring how early relationships in our infancy may shape the way we relate to others in adult life. I also use some elements of cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) which uses techniques to help bring about changes to unhelpful thought patterns and behaviours that don't serve us well.

I can offer a short course of focussed counselling or longer-term therapy, depending on your requirements. I also use mindfulness practices to help with relaxation and focus.

My approach to counselling

I chose the name 'Way Through the Woods' because it describes my vision of counselling. You choose the direction, and I walk beside you - not leading from the front or pushing from behind. My person-centred approach means I trust that you have your own inner sense of the right path. My role is to offer warmth, curiosity and companionship so you feel safe enough to explore.

On the path, we might pause to understand how your early experiences shaped the way you navigate the world, like noticing how old paths formed in childhood still influence where you step today.

And when it's helpful, I can offer CBT tools that work like a like a map or compass which support you in making sense of patterns and finding clearer routes forward.

Above all, I believe the wisdom for walking your path already lives within you. I'm here to help you discover it.

People come to therapy at different stages of readiness. Some arrive knowing exactly what they want to change. Others come because someone else has noticed they're struggling, or because something inside just doesn't feel right.  Wherever you are, we start there.

I see change as a process - not something you force, but something that unfolds naturally when you feel safe, supported and understood. Much like finding your way through the woods, you don't have to see the whole route to take the first step. You just need a guide who walks beside you.
